ONE YEAR POSTOPERATIVE FOLLOWUP

HISTORY: His surgery was done on 07/05/2006. The patient is 1 year status post gastric bypass surgery for the treatment of his extreme obesity. His initial weight was 243 pounds. He now weighs 139, has a BMI of 26. He is off diabetes medicines and off CPAP. He takes no prescription medicines. He exercises 2 to 3 hours a day, mostly aerobic-type exercises and walking. His energy level is remarkable. He has no nausea or vomiting, no abdominal pain. He takes his vitamins everyday.

PHYSICAL EXAMINATION: His blood pressure is 110/76, pulse 68, respirations 16, temperature 37. BMI 26. He appears absolutely well. The abdomen is flat. The wounds are healed. He has a 1+ to 2+ hanging skin pannus which he may or may not seek excision of through plastic surgery and we discussed this.

IMPRESSION AND PLAN: The patient will have 1 year labs ordered including vitamin levels, and I gave him no new recommendations since he is doing everything so well. He should come back in follow up to my medical center in 1 year and yearly thereafter.
